PhD Candidate - pvergeli@asu.edu

I am a PhD candidate in both the Anbar lab and Hartnett lab interested in astrobiology, particularly photochemistry and exoplanetary ecosystems. In my degree, I am exploring biogeochemical processes using microbial analysis, photogeochemical experiments, and network modeling to better understand how life manifests on a planetary scale. My first project focuses on Archean Earth biogeochemistry by experimentally testing a photogeochemical model to understand the mechanisms that produce banded iron formations. My second project focuses on using network analysis to understand how life in varying ecosystems contributes to the composition of the atmosphere.
